Bassermann-Jordan is Germany’s largest privately owned Wine Estate. Year after year, this historic wine estate is rated as one of the very best in Germany. In 2017 Bassermann Jordan was presented with the award “winery of the year” by the wine publication Gault Millau and it is today one of the very few in Germany that they rate as “world class”.
The term "GG" Grosses Gewächs is used to identify some of the finest white wines of Germany, and is specific to dry wines. All Grosses Gewächs comes from a Grosses Lage (‘great site’), the best vineyards according to the German VDP classification system. Like the grand crus of Burgundy, these wines take the name of the vineyard and not the village. The Grainhübel vineyard is such a premium vineyard site located on an ancient coral reef with fine sandy loess and marl lime soil. This superb Riesling exhibits delicate and yet exalted fruit, which will become even more intense by a couple of years of aging. Reminiscent of roasted hazelnuts and almonds paired with fresh lime. This is a wine for the present and for the future.
