Portugal, Spain’s smaller neighbor on the Iberian Peninsula has maintained its uniqueness in many respects. The wines also have a completely different character from those of its neighbour. The Portuguese have more than 500 different varieties between the green north and the sunbaked Alenteijo in the south. The Quinta do Crasto winery is situated at the right side of the Douro River. Between the cities of Régua and Pinhao. It lies in a beautiful landscape, high above the Douro at the top of one of the hills in the mid of many old vine tendrils. The name of the winery originated from a Roman fort that once stood here. The Roquette family turned the Quinta from a simple winery that sold grapes and port to renowned producers to one of the most recognizable names in the Portuguese wine industry. The vine stocks on the Quinta terraces are more than 70 years old – and you can taste it.

This blend of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga France, Tinta Roriz and Sousao grape varieties is a full-bodied red wine with an aroma of dark berries and vanilla. A highlight is also the delicate note of violet that characterizes the Touriga Nacional grape variety. Enjoy this exclusive BASF wine with lamb, tapas or Portuguese cheese.
