The Hammel winery was founded in 1723 by Johann David Hammel, who planted the first vines and thereby laid the cornerstone for this historic Palatinate winery. Today the estate is managed by Christoph Hammel, who after graduating in oenology in Austria and gained international experience from working in South Africa and Mallorca, Spain.  The wine Sophie Helene was produced by Christoph Hammel’s daughter – Sophie Helene. Her passion is Rosé wine, so she was determined to show her father how an excellent rosé wine should taste. She succeeded, and convinced not just her father that she can produce an outstanding Rosé.
