One winery with two styles of wine: The von Winning winery is located in Deidesheim and is primarily known for its barrel-aged wines. But the winery is also esteemed for its fruity crisp white wines.

The winery was born out of the Jordan’sche Teilung in 1849, when the Jordan winery was split three ways after its founder’s death. The split lay the foundation for Deidesheim’s three biggest wineries: Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan, Reichsrat von Buhl and Dr. Deinhard. In 1907, Leopold von Winning, son-in-law of Dr. Deinhard, overtook management and dedicated his life to creating top quality wines. In 2007 the winery was purchased by the entrepreneur Achim Niederberger who decided to use the two historic names for the two different styles of wine. Their wines under the label Dr. Deinhard are fermented and aged solely in stainless steel tanks and the result is the sought after dry but crisp and fruit forward wines.

This Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) “No. 1” is bottled exclusively for BASF Wine Cellar and displays aromas of ripe juicy yellow fruit, with notes of apricot and exotic fruit. On the palate this wine is elegant and slightly creamy. It is a perfect allrounder that will be a pleasure on its own or with food like seafood, poultry or even pork dishes.
