The Domaine Sesquières is located in the foothills of the Montagne Noire in the Cabardès appellation in south of France. While wine making in the region goes back to the Roman era, this is one of France’s youngest appellations. The vineyards in the Cabardès appellation benefit from a climate that is both influenced by the warm Mediterranean and the cooler Atlantic Ocean. The appellation is the only AOC in France that permits and requires the winemakers to blend grape varieties typically found in Mediterranean climates like Syrah and Grenache with varieties typically found in Atlantic climates like Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Domaine Sesquières vineyards are south-facing on a limestone plateau and they enjoy an exceptional terroir where vines, garrigue scrubland and evergreen oaks mingle. The Quercus, which is Latin for Oak, is a blend of Merlot and Syrah. On the nose, the spices and floral notes of the Syrah harmonize well with the velvety aromas of red fruits of the Merlot. A perfect pairing for a roasted meat.
