Markus Molitor took over his father's winery in 1984, when he was just 20 years old. He did so with the goal to produce exceptional quality Rieslings that once made the Mosel region world-famous and to do so in the tradition of the eight generations before him. His wines are unique, a reflection of the terroir, and will often age very well. This Riesling comes from the Ürziger Würzgarten, which is one of the best vineyard sites in Mosel, with steep slopes towards south and southeast, and unique red iron-rich soil. This gives the wines grown here a special character, with spice and opulent fruit, with a crisp hearty backbone. This wonderfully balanced Kabinett shows exotic fruit notes of apricot, lychee, currant, peach as well as mineral freshness and energy at the long finish. Add to this some warm honey, ripe apple, flowers and a little marzipan, which comes from the careful extra cellaring, and you get this late release specially bottled for BASF Wine Cellar.
