With great pride, BASF is presenting the premiere of the Neustadter Vogelsang, the first and only Große Gewächs site in the Neustadter Kernstadt. Große Gewächs (GG) is a term of distinction used for dry, single-variety wines from Germany’s leading vineyards and is equivalent to grand cru vineyards in France’s Burgundy region. In collaboration with the Müller-Catoir winery, we are offering this GG made from the Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). While Riesling is considered the king among white grape varieties, Spätburgunder, being cultivated for over 2000 years, is often regarded as the queen of red grape varieties.

The bouquet of this Spätburgunder has a delicate dark forest fruit fragrance with blackberry, black cherry and currant. Its lush body is carried by an elegant tannin structure right through to the multi-layered finish. The world-renowned American wine critic James Suckling gave this wine a score of 96 out of a possible 100!
