Nik Weis St. Urbans-hof Piesporter Riesling 2022

Founded in 1947, Nik Weis-St. Urbans-Hof has become one of the most important and classic wineries in the Mosel region. Since 2000, the Riesling winery is member of Germany’s renowned VDP (Association of German Quality Wine Estates). The approximately 45 hectares of vineyards stretch along the Mosel and Saar rivers and are cultivated in a traditional manner in harmony with nature. The average age of the vines is 60 years but some of the oldest still producing vines were planted in the late 1800’s.

The winery uses the traditional large oak casks called Fuder to vinify their best wines. Before stainless steel tanks, this was how wine was made and sold in Mosel for centuries. With this being a single barrel bottling, only 1,300 bottles of this wine were filled. It is only made during the best years. This wonderful Riesling from the vineyard Piesport in Mosel displays refined acidity, and a wide range of fruit flavors from lime, lemon to stone fruit like peaches and apricots. This wine will pair wonderfully with some grilled white fish.
