In 1961, Dino Carletti acquired the estate's first 22 hectares of vineyards, which have today grown to 170 hectares. Because of his admiration of the 15th-century humanist poet Angelo Ambrogini, he chose his nickname Poliziano (the Politian) as a name for the winery. 19 years later, his son Federico took over the estate and continued to lead it to become one of the best wineries in Italy.

Tuscany is the second largest wine region in Italy and is one of the most renowned and prolific wine regions in Europe. The region is famous for its elegant and full-bodied red wines made from Sangiovese with long cellar life. The highly acclaimed Vino Nobile DOCG vineyards surround Montepulciano, a picturesque hill town in southeastern Tuscany. This bottling from Poliziano is named after the place where in the appellation the grapes where grown. "Asinaccio" is a small hill that is reminiscent of the back of a donkey. After the harvest, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 16-18 months and shows a rich finesse. This powerful cuvée is made from 90% Sangiovese, and small portions of Merlot, Canaiolo Nero and Colorino. It displays dark berry aromas and spicy notes such as leather, tobacco, and liquorice. We recommend that you to try this gorgeous wine with meat dishes as Bistecca alla Fiorentina or pasta with red sauce like Ravioli Marinara.
