The Friedrich Becker winery is as far south as you can get in Palatinate, right on the border with French Alsace. It is what is called a cross-border winery, where some of their vineyards are in Germany, and some are over on the French side of the border. The reason for this is the division made after the Second World War.  Friedrich Becker is one of a very small group of wineries, permitted to use grapes grown in France in their quality German wines.

As it was typical for the southern Palatinate region, the Becker family ran a mixed-use farm for many generations, with vineyards, some animals, and fruit orchards. Since the middle of the 20th century, wine making has been their sole focus and passion. In 1973, Friedrich Becker Sr. filled the first bottles with the fox on the label. It has since then become their trademark, and for wine connoisseurs around the world it stands for unique French style Pinot Noir wines with uncompromisingly high quality. Bright ruby red in the glass, the Sans Frontiere displays red fruit mixed with spices and earthy tobacco notes on the nose. The palate is elegant with red fruit and blackberry flavors. Enjoy this wine with a mixed green salad, poultry dishes or grilled vegetables.
