Since 1870, a period spanning five generations, the Eguren family has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines and the production and ageing of the best wines of La Rioja. From father to son, they have passed down both knowledge and tradition yet, at the same time, adapting  them to the new advances in technology and always maintaining their respect for the soil and  the vine. The Eguren family and their wineries enjoy respect in Spain and Internationally. The renowned Spanish wine magazine PENIN designated their winery Teso La Monja as best winery of Spain in 2012. The estate is located in the Toro region and is a state-of-the-art winery, designed to produce exclusively prestigious wines.

The grape vines of the vineyards are averaging 100 years of age! The yields are low and to celebrate its’ foundation in 1901, the BASF wine cellar has created in association with Teso la Monja this rare and special wine named “Espiritu 1901”. A portion of the grapes is harvested from pre-Phylloxera Toro Vineyards planted in 1901. A great example of how tradition and modernity always converge, particularly in the wine world!

This deep red wine will fill your nose with intense fruit and fresh oak aromas. Expressive notes of plums, red currants, and cocoa. Slightly floral notes with a touch of licorice. The oak is evident and present. A long-lasting taste. This wine will still benefit from aging and it will be a wine of greatness... soon
