Bassermann-Jordan Ruppertsberger Spiess Riesling VDP.Erste Lage 2022

The Bassermann Jordan winery is located in the picturesque village of Deidesheim, in the middle of southern Platinate area of Mittelhaardt. The Bassermann-Jordan winery history stretches back over 300 years, to when Pierre Jordan purchased the family's first vineyards in Pfalz. Since then, the family estate has greatly influenced viticulture and winemaking in Germany. Even the famous German writer and wine lover, Goethe, was a customer of the estate in the early 19th century. The wines produced by Bassermann-Jordan are today considered classic examples of Palatinate Rieslings and counted among the best wines of Germany.

This Riesling comes from the VDP Erste Lage premier cru vineyard site Ruppertsberger Spiess. The vineyards around this small village of Ruppertsberg, produces a remarkable proportion of Pfalz's very finest Riesling wines. Due to its warm and sunny climate, the wines from Ruppertsberg are noticeably richer and riper than that found almost anywhere else in Germany.
